My first poem in over 30 years

TREES & CROW

Trees and Crow
In tandem don't grow
But bind them together
The winds that blow

Sunrises and Sunsets
Incessantly rhyme
Life starts and ends
They continue to flow

Tides of emotions
Bubbles in the air
Wonders of life
Burn inside and outside

Guards of materials
And keepers of time
May carry the mountains
Or smiles sublime

Smile of a single cheek
Twitching of an eye
Mischiefs of a moment
fade with a bye.

(This poem was written in the dead of a night, when I got up and wrote it in matter of a couple of minutes, as if taking dictation. - AKB)

Thanks Anil and Nita. I have received several emails after I announced the launching of this blog site. I am reproducing a couple of them here:

From Sunil R. Parekh:

i really liked it. Good one.
This theme of contradictions in life in many aspects runs common to many of us.
Pls put up others as well. All prose and poerty is in english or some in Hindi as well?
warm regards

From Sandeep Saxena:

Dear AKB:

Keep on blogging and writing, don't let any one tell you otherwise!

Cheers!

Here is the reply I sent to Sunil Parekh:

Thanks for your encouragement. I have often travelled through the maze called life (everyone does) and tried to get a feel of the surroundings – though without much success.

I used to write in HINDI only earlier but over the years lost touch with the language. We are language orphans now. We can hardly call any language as OUR language. English is the surrogate mother tongue of the day. Thoughts need a language for expression. I am trying to express in whatever is handy – though without much command over English.

I had started writing a novel in Hindi about 10-12 years back. Had written about 50 pages. It was turning out to be extremely abstract. Even if I had completed it I don’t think I would have got anyone to read it. It still is lying in my cupboard – in all its yellowing glory.

Thanks again.

AKB,

Both your poems are good. Keep writing ... And do try and finish your incomplete novel. I've had occasion to do some writing. And believe me, once you start writing in right earnest, words seem to just flow. Good luck and keep on writing !
